The "Lesser" Things?

Each of us with a calling on our lives know of the importance of such. Does that mean then, (as I have heard of late,) that the "lesser" things in life have no matter? Further, as I have heard mentioned, if I am not doing something 'spiritual' or 'holy,' am I wasting time?
Even Jesus Himself took time apart to participate in 'lesser' things: He went fishing with the disciples...He went and joined the festivities at a wedding...(even turning water into wine!)...
I had a Pastor write me awhile back to thank me that when he was with us he did not have to be "on" all the time--he could relax, have fun, play catch with us, etc. Can people feel that way around you?
One such occasion was just this afternoon. The five of us went bowling. Real 'spiritual,' huh? It did, however, turn out to be emotional, at least for me. Read on

There are realms of glory, there are
higher plans to be.
But for the moment, Heaven is
an afternoon with three:
in a Bowling Alley with
my daughters and my son--
ministry is happening,
and miracles are done.
Trying to participate
while holding back the tears...
trying to see three adults
without recalling years...
trying to stay level, but
they elevate me so!
The impact of the moment--
can any of them know?

I am not an actor and
it doesn't take too much
to realize that, on my life,
they each have quite a touch!
But to hold emotion and
the hand of my sweet wife
with every pin that tumbles on
an afternoon of life!

Every one of us has a calling. Do not let that calling get in the way of living. In reaching out to minister, do not refuse to be ministered to. And sometimes, it's even alright to sit back and enjoy the moment! For one day, you will realize that those "lesser" things turn out to be more important than you think!

What do you expect?

What do you expect?
What do I expect?
Do I even know what to expect?
"If I continue to do the same things, I am going to get the same results."
(How deep is that!)
I have to expect God to do more if I am going to recognize it when He does!

I know there's a miracle waiting for me!
Will I recognize it when it comes to be?
Will it be only what I am expecting,
or will I accept it as His will perfecting?

Too many times I miss His touch
by seeking the "profound;"
too many times I miss His voice
by listening for sound;
How many times have I refused
His perfect will for me
by seeking only that which I
may hear or I may see?

O help me know Your ways are o
so far beyond my own,
And that what is best for me
by You is fully known!
Let me not turn my back upon
the greatest gift of all
by clinging to what I 'expect,'
thus severing Your call!

A miracle is every moment
in this fleeting life!
A miracle--He elevates me
midst the pain and strife!
A miracle--He sees I prosper
when is gone each source!
A miracle--a life of serving
God Most High, of course!

The Look of Christmas

Merry Christmas!
O, how glorious the season is!
It is even more beautiful when you truly know Whom the season is all about!
Look around and know...

Christmas on the landscape--
it dons the very best!
Knowing, by the One Who is,
it prospers and is blessed!
Replacing that which is discarded
in the fall ago
with a wardrobe so alive
when gone the ice and snow!
Even through the same, the land
is glorious and new!
Never eye to tire of
beholding season view!
Never God to tire of hearing
praise about the same--
for I do so with praise unto Him
and His holy Name!

Christmas on the landscape,
reverence in view!
Jesus Christ, so alive,
abundant and anew!
All creation recognize,
to recognize Him come:
the coming of The King in Whom
new life, new life the sum!

Soldier at Christmas

Celebrating Jesus--
the Giver and the Gift.
The purpose of the season?
All of life to lift!
Each of us have a favorite
way that we prepare;
in so doing, let us not
forget those 'over there.'
Over there in foxholes...
over there in tents...
over there beneath the stars,
the violence, he prevents;
over there in barracks,
in aircraft, ships and tanks:
they need support these holidays
regardless of their ranks!

In spite of an opinion, they are
servants, one and all!
To elevate each one in prayer
is our sovereign call!
Prayer for their protection,
safety, sanity,
as, every moment of their watch,
obedient they be!

Celebrating Jesus--
in all points, HE is Peace!
And He is on each front until
each conflict knows release!
The heart be also present
wherever they're away!
Again, the greatest gift that we
can give is that we pray!

Peace, the Name!

Peace. Do You know Him?
He is so real! How can any live without Him?!
And He is so far superior to 'seasonal!'
Seek to know Him truly, always!
He is JESUS!

Grateful for the peace
based on naught at all,
availed without measure unto
them that heed the call;
even those just calling
His mighty, holy Name,
the peace that passes understanding,
they may surely claim!
That peace--it has no season,
as man is truly prone;
the Prince of peace, but ever-
constantly is truly known!
Keep Him in the heart, therefore,
but in and out of season!
Jesus Christ, the Son of God,
He is the only reason!

O, wonderful is peace:
Jesus Christ the Son!
Serenity of season enter in,
Thy will be done!
O keep me in the practical
as You do all the rest
to ensure each celebrant
be real and be blessed!

Learning the Light!

Can you hear it?! O, the song of the heart can be nothing less as we behold the Light of love come into the world to save our souls!!

Shower light in jubilance
in season of the same!
Absorb the light that comes as
angels glorify His Name!
Exude the light to them that haven't
heard His Name at all!
So celebrate the Gift of Love,
accomplishing His call!

O holy night illuminated
by a single Name!
One holy life, generated
by eternal Flame!
Holiness availed no other
place at all to know!
'Tradition' to be secondary,
holiness bestow!

Purity of Light abound
and occupy all sight
in magnitude beyond our own,
eliminating night!
Son of God, God the Son,
salvation for eterne!
2,000 years to now the Light,
and still so much to learn!

Christmas of the Bible

Get this straight: I LOVE CHRISTMAS!

I get frustrated, however, when I see people get caught up in the commercial trappings of the season....when I see gift-giving become a competition instead of an outpouring of love...
Often, usually DAILY, I must stop and remind myself what Christmas is, WHO Christmas is, and ask myself what lengths He would go to in savoring this season.
Pray for me, won't you, that I keep Christ Mass in perspective...

Christmas of the Bible,
so foreign unto most:
no gifts to be competing,
no castes in which to boast...
ONE GIFT alone to matter--
the One come from above;
'mongst precious metals and spices,
the greatest gift be love!

Christmas of the ages,
traditions come and go...
but Truth be yet alive for each
and all to truly know!
History to add, subtract,
but God to guarantee
the Truth of Christmas stay alive
for such as even we!

Christmas of the present--
controversy yet.
So long ago the Manger...
how far removed we get!
Peace on earth existing
for all who will receive:
"It came upon a midnight clear..."
to any who believe!

Christmas of the heart,
reality at last!
When Jesus there resides,
insignificance is past!
Enthrone Him where is proper,
all else will find its place.
Christmas--it is JESUS,
He is the Gift of Grace!

Christmas, IT IS JESUS! Is He your Christmas?
He is free, can you afford Him?

The Bible.
The Word of God.
Is it ‘alive’ in your life?
Have you given it a chance to be alive?
Ask the Holy Spirit to direct…

Vision to select a page—
What does the looker seek?
Will the living of the text
Unto the reader speak?
Will another one peruse
And hear the very same?
Or individuality
Will the writer claim?
And therein be the “life” of that
Existing in the text:
That spoken to the reader says
Another to the next!
Even that read previous
Communicates anew
When is seen as so alive
The page that comes to view!

How Long Is "Christmas?"

Glorious, the season of the year!
The same is all-year-long with Jesus here!

Special, though, take time to celebrate
the newborn King, so glorious, so great!
Jesus, You are life and life again!
Known by the most fortunate of men,

served by those so blessed to know Your call
worshipped soon by EVERYONE at all!
I recall Your birth with thoughts ahead...
I walk with You through green and white and red...
I give in Your Name in and out of season...
Father, thanks so much for Jesus Christ!
Jesus, thanks for all You sacrificed!
Father, Son and Spirit, quickly come,
eternal life in glory be our sum!

Christmas is so beautiful, but there is One more beautiful than Christmas!
Christmas is so special, but there is One more special than Christmas!
Christmas is a season, oh, but there is One Who is eternal!
He is ETERNAL...

O, what a Presence!

God is so good...God is so generous...
God is so present!
Anywhere and everywhere I be, even though He goes with me, He is already there!
I don't understand it, I only rejoice in it with thanksgiving!

O, what a Presence, not ever away;
comes to me anywhere inside the day;
comes to transform any where I be found!
O what a Presence--what blessings abound!

Blessings abounding that cannot be bought!
No way to record all that shall be my lot,
but to enjoy what the benefit be,
oh, of the wonders exclusive to me!

How can I tell all that God is to me
when every moment new wonders I see?
And newer is He, so unchanging and sure
in Whom all of grace I enjoy and endure!

Is He present with you? He can be!
Just ask Him from your heart!

"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me" Rev. 3:20

"It hurts to go on!"

Have you been there? Have you ever reached that point?
So many times I have found that location. But I have also found something else in the same place. Upon arrival, I have never been alone!
The One there awaiting is not only willing to listen to me, He already knows exactly how I feel and, greater, He knows exactly what to do for me!

Must I suffer more?
I am tender, I am sore!
If I could stop and rest,
Then I could give my best.
I’m aching in my hands,
And Someone understands.
He listens and He hears;
He feels all my tears.

His hands, however sore,
They give, and they give more.
My shelter in the blast,
My balm ‘til pain is past;
My compass and my guide,
They open, oh so wide!
Yet they be my abode
Amidst whatever load!

Must I suffer long?
The same to make me strong;
But Jesus is relief—
My Cornerstone, and chief!
He knows my every pain
And He will e’er remain!
The suffering soon gone, oh,
But Jesus, on and on…

Sunday, December 2, 2007

God is so incredible!
In all of the pain and confusion of the past few days, here are the words He gives me:

In the depths of suffering, I'm healed;
in the deepest darkness I am revealed;
from the deepest depth I do arise;
for God, wherever I am, He supplies!

When I'm not feeling right, He says
I do not live by 'feel;'
whatever is my sight, He never
fails to reveal;
when I can't 'sense' at all, somehow
He makes His Presence known
with words of reassurance,
verifying I'm His own!

The depths of suffering are not at length,
He makes me there to sing about His strength.
The song is not just hope, it's also truth,
'cause there is God--Restorer of my youth!
Through the depths I know I have been led.
I could gripe, but I choose praise, instead!
I've learned that my location, anywhere,
has been ordained and He is with me there!

Bless His holy Name! Strive to know such a God as this!
He is available to one and all who seek Him.
Can you release yourself so deeply into a trust that allows
this kind of relationship?
One of the few certainties we have about these seizures that
I go through is that I do not go through them alone. For God
is there with me every second of the way.

Everything I do has a consequence. For every deed I do, there is recompense. Two alone know whether or not I give my all.

The wages, they accumulate—
Will I give my all?
I know what is expected of me,
Settled in the Call.
Will I do that expected, resting
I fulfilled the Call,
Or will I press on, unceasing,
Till I’ve given all?

Everything I give, oh, it is
Well returned to me.
In wages I don’t understand,
He blesses liberally.
Even that deemed ‘worthless’ in
Another attitude,
I find to be a treasure when
Enjoyed or heard or viewed!

The wages, they accumulate.
I will, I will give all!
I am secure that God Most High,
He is my wherewithal!
He gives back to me in this life,
And, oh, that life beyond!
I will give, regardless if
I am or am not fond!

How easy it is to accept that God is so great and so busy that He could not possibly have time for me or my little concern. WHAT A LIE!! God wants to hear from us! The Word says that our concerns move Him! Don’t ever let anything hold you back from time with Him!

So far above the situation,
How can You be moved?
And yet, you whisper to my heart
That I have been approved.
Far greater than humanity,
Yet given to the same,
You clothe me in Your righteousness
And call me by Your Name!
I am unnecessary to You,
You are all-in-all;
Yet, without ceasing, You are reaching,
And You gently call.

So great and mighty, perfect You,
Yet You treat me the way You do.
You set aside all else that be
And tend to the concerns of me.
You give what I cannot request,
And only have for me the best.

In every facet of this life
Is Your authority;
And You care for the most minute
Of the minority!
And wherever I may be
Upon whatever scale,
No matter how immense You are,
Your Presence will not fail!

What am I missing?

"The power of life and death are contained in the tongue."*

What am I saying?
Am I speaking life?
When I refer to that person that needs prayer, do I voice it in a 'hopeful' way?
When I refer to that person in his sinful condition, do I say it in a way that alludes to the fact that he is 'savable?'
"He'll never amount to anything..."
Yes, I have said it, too.
Should I not rather say "Father, thank You for the potential You see in that person! Please help me to see it, as well, and pray for him accordingly."
Just this morning, I heard a man ask prayer for his daughter that she would stay away from "...the ilk she hangs out with. She seems to like that lifestyle."
Will God answer that prayer? What about the "ilk?" He loves them just as much! And I don't think God would call them that. What am I missing?
It's all well and good that we gather to learn about and pray about the needs of one another, but what would Jesus do?
I can't see Jesus going to His Father and saying "Father, we must get Jim out of that place because of the people that are there!" I see Him loving and calling out to everyone there with me! What am I missing?
Where did I 'lose it?' I was in the same place that she was! Should I not be all the more merciful, knowing what is she seeing, feeling, thinking...from experience?

"Heavenly Father, yet again I find myself in a place where I must cry out "Make me more like You!"
Thank You, Father, for Your patience.
Thank You for not giving up on me.
Thank You for not giving to me what I deserve.
Thank You for not imputing upon me the rewards of my actions!
Please help me to be as merciful and loving as You are to those around me.
Please help me to love others as I should.
Please help me to mean it when I say 'Not my will but Yours be done' when I pray.
In Jesus' Name,

*Proverbs 18:21

Monday, November 26, 2007

How passionate my Father is about me!
He feels the same way about anyone and everyone!
Yes, even YOU!
Everything you ever go through, He has already been there,

that is why He is THE ONE to turn to in every situation!

Pain so great, I do not even
know how I should pray!
But God, He is so great He
understands me anyway!
He takes the words that I assemble,
and those I cannot,
and gives me back His perfect answer
of His mercies wrought.
Situations that nobody
else may understand,
they are handled perfectly
when put into His hand!
The lives of those around me are
affected by the same
as I present them to my Father
and declare His Name!

O blessed be my Father! He hears
and knows my distress!

He honors me as I come to Him,
and begins to bless!
He is life anew as I
allow Him full control!
He is the Lover of my heart,
the Savior of my soul!

My Savior, Lover, Deliverer, constant Companion…
Everything I need Him to be, HE IS.

Signs of Gratitude

What are they to you? Are they only 'symbols?'
No. Thanksgiving should be a way of life.

Thanksgiving and so thankful
that Jesus is alive!
With a song of gratitude,
before Him, I arrive!

A turkey in the oven,
is that the only sign
of a house that is thankful?
What a wrong design!
For it is just a symbol of
the plenitude we know,
one more thing for which our
gratitude to God would flow!

More than just a table full,
more than recipes,
more than friends and relatives,
more deep than all of these!
Thanksgiving is a way of life,
it is a state of heart;
it is that voice that cries, no matter what,
"How great Thou art!"

Whatever's in the oven is
a blessing on this day!
Remember, though, to live each moment
in a grateful way!
Gratitude to Him from Whom
all gifts originate--
gratitude to God, so very
good, so very great!

Thanksgiving, and so thankful
that Jesus is alive!
With a song of gratitude,
before Him, I arrive!

Thursday, November 22, 2007

I pray that your list of that for which you are grateful is endless! Of a truth, there is not time for me to list what we are thankful for, but that entire list is directed to God Himself, without whom we would have nothing.

Holiday upon us,
just one day each year?
Absolutely not! So much
of gratitude is clear!
Be ye grateful for each day
that you can take a breath!
Too many are the ones alive
that yet resemble death!

Thanksgiving--not a holiday--
a way of life it be!
If you are reading this right now,
be thankful you can see...
if you are listening to this,
be thankful you can hear...
but you cannot do either one?
Thank God for life so dear!

A bounty set before us--
but much more than a meal;
a buffet of emotions--
but far more than mere 'feel;'
Thanksgiving is reflection,
to render and receive;
thanksgiving be that attitude
all charity conceive!

Do be blessed where you are, when you are, and who you are. If no one is there with you, ask God to join you! He is already there, of course; He may just be waiting for you to acknowledge Him!

I must reach out...
I know I can do it...
it is not out of reach...

If I can but touch the hem of His garment,
my need shall surely be met!
But as long as I'm this close to My Jesus,
His embrace I want to get!
I cannot sneak up upon my dear Savior,
He knows everything at all!
Sure enough, as I enter into His chamber,
my name I hear Him call.
A moment alone with God my salvation,
so personal and so intense,
but so refreshing to know I'm no bother,
in ways so far greater than 'sense!'
His touch while we're talking about everything,
and about nothing at all,
so deepens the covenant we have established,
and inspires me on in The Call!
Here, where the enemy isn't allowed,
I'm restored and repaired for The Way.
I savor the peace and Presence of Him,
before I return to the fray.

He carries my burden far out of my sight
replacing it with His own bale,
and bids me farewell as He strengthens and blesses me,
promising that we will not fail!

That is how I must proceed. That is how I must pray. No matter what is in front of me, no matter what is pending, I have the authority to proceed with power.
Sure, there are times when I must wait. There are purposes to wait.
But He will make such known to me as I pray and listen to the Holy Spirit. As long as I am moving, I am to do so with power!

Never to be powerless
As long as I can pray!
Never to be comfortless
Along the Narrow Way!
Never be confusion as
I go where I be led,
As I refuse the world and
Take Jesus Christ instead!

“I take You, Jesus! Yes, You are
my power and my strength!
The way—it is in front of me,
I cannot know the length;
But to know Your faithfulness
For every step ahead…
But to know Your holiness
As, onward, I be led!”

My power and direction until
No way be at all,
It is my fellowship with God—
He hears me when I call.
I will hear Him calling and
Respond to Him with prayer:
Power and authority
Restored unto me there!

Prayer is my power!

In HIS Power,

Wasting Time

Let’s not waste time in prayer!
You heard me. Read on…

My voice is rife with feeling and I am heard.
My trials, they go reeling with just one word!
He speaks unto the problems and they respond.
The only One to solve them—His ways beyond!

My prayers, they move the earth and sky;
My prayers, they make Heaven sigh;
My prayers—they are my power source,
And they are answered each, of course!

He listens to each thing I vocalize.
My heart and soul take wings and soar the skies!
They each return with answers from above,
Returning with His joy and perfect love!

If I am only praying and not believing He will answer, what’s the point? I might as well spend all my time collecting Hot Wheels!
God is completely tuned to the words of my voice. Greater, He is in tune with the words of my heart! He knows when I am praying as I should.

I know when I am praying as I should.
You know when you are praying as you should.
Let’s not waste time in prayer

"Heavenly Father, would you please...
I'm sorry.
I come to you and the first thing out of my mouth is a request.
I'm very sorry.
I enter into Your Presence with a shopping list instead of an offering.
I'm so sorry.
I am supposed to enter into Your courts with praise!
Worship and adoration are the vehicle that transports me into Your Presence.
Please forgive me.
Such will be foremost as I approach You.
You are so awesome!
You already know my needs even before I am aware of them, yet You graciously and patiently listen to me tell You about them as if they are news to You!1
There is none like You! I worship You! Thank You for Your mercy.
Not only are You aware of my need, You knew what You were going to do about it long before it was a need! Hallelujah! Your grace is amazing!
Please, Father, teach me the difference between a 'need' and a 'desire.'
Your Word declares, and You have proven, that You will even give me the desires of my heart.2 Help me to know what my heart desires, and not my sight.
Help me to delight myself in You, not in what I can get from You.
Please remind me to always come to You because of Your Majesty, and not merchandise. For You are greater!
Salvation is greater than salvage.
Relationship is greater than religion.
I will focus on You.
In the Name of Jesus,

1. Matt. 6:8
Phil. 4:19
2. Ps. 37:4

"But God..."

What? You've never said that?!

You're better than I am, then!

Fortunately, with me, He is patient enough to continue to use me for His glory.

And He rewards me for such.

That, in itself, can be a stumbling block.

I cry out that my attitude

would stay one of gratitude

in spite of what I do or do not own.

I may or I may not possess,

but this I know: my God will bless

according to His will for me alone!

I may reach, I may pursue,

but always will I give Him due,

it all belongs unto Him anyway.

Thus I can focus on His work

as He provides each precious perk

He purposes for all who will obey!

God is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

But that cannot be the only motive, or I will fall.

"And great will be the fall of that man!"

The Crest of Rest

We are to boldly continue forward.
What if continuing forward reveals a mountain up ahead? Does a mountain always denote a challenge?
Unless He tells you otherwise, don’t stop! Remember the One Who is bidding you to come is also the One that will provide everything you will need to follow His call!

The mountains of imagination
Harbor an escape.
Upon arrival, I relax,
Reality a-drape.
There to walk the heights, but not
Alone, no, not alone,
The Creator of the heights,
His Presence there be known.

The mountains of imagination—
They are not afar!
Strength awaiting—enter as
The respite is ajar!
Find what you are lacking,
Refill the depths within.
Creator God, He is the Source,
But you must enter in!

Even when you feel like life is a constant climb, remember that He has provided wonderful stations of rest along the Way!

Happy Anniversay

Debby & I have been married 26 years today. Here is what I wrote and read to her at the altar on that day:

A flame has come into my life
and settled in my heart.
And now, a fire gently burns,
deeper love to start.
Forever it will be in my life,
that is my only prayer;
and hon, in all the days of life,
I feel you must be there!
Love can be just like the sea:
so calm, and yet so strong.
And in love, like upon the sea,
storms will come along.
And love is like a rose in bloom:
so precious on the vine!
And like the rose, there will be thorns
lagging us behind.
But since we have our hearts with God,
in storm, there shan't be gloom;
and putting Him forever first,
the thorn shan't hinder bloom!

So Deb, please take me as I am
on this, our Wedding Day.
Time will go on and both of us
will change along the way.
But one thing that will never change
is my deep love for you,
and that I promise from my heart
so very, very true!

And the flame goes on. And the years go on. Thank you, honey. I love you.

"...and thank YOU, Jesus! We cannot go on without YOU!"

Happy Veteran's Day

Those of you receiving of that, please know that you have my deepest respect and heartfelt gratitude.
Thanks Daddy...
thanks Pastor...
thanks Ed & Cheri...
thanks Ron...
the list goes on...
Each of you know who you are, and each of you are the only ones who truly know all you went through to obtain the title "Veteran."
All I can do is express my gratitude.

In a place where I cannot be,
sacrificing all;
faithful and obedient
unto this country's call.
Over here, over there,
the same to matter not--
America, so honored, blessed,
that such as you we've got.

You are not invisible
in a world so fast.
A giant shadow on our living,
of a truth, you cast!
One of honor, gratitude,
one of great respect;
may those attributes in us
unto you each deflect.

God, alone, to know the scope
of everything you do.
God, alone, to fully understand
what you go through.
This writer and this country, though,
to be so grateful for
your time, your passion, every talent,
each of you outpour!

"My country, 'tis of thee
these veterans oversee.
See to it, each and all
appreciate their call."

In HIS Service,
Jim Busby

Watching Him walk

God's awake!
Look outside, He has something to show you:

My Father walks the land
utensils in His hand
touching here and there
signing everywhere!

His signature impossible to copy,
the very same, He never duplicates.
The colors of His hand have not a number;
oh, but inspiration generates!

My Father walks the land--
how many understand
the very fullness of
the One whose name is love?

One of the greatest gifts that you can give yourself is TIME to look around and notice the touch of God in your life. It is everywhere...if you look!

Life affects each of us the same way differently.
What my brother is going through right now is something that I may have gone through a few years ago, or that I have not even experienced yet, or may never.
A friend of mine went through cancer several years back. Being close, we discussed each others' lives about every day.
It was mentioned that, though the symptoms had been for a while, as soon as he was told "cancer," everybody's attitude and treatment of him changed. This poem is a comment on his faith.

My brother is in trouble,
my brother is in embrace.
A situation dire
now stares him in the face.
"My God, You have to help him!
What are we going to do?!
Did You hear what the doctors said?!
He needs Your touch anew!"

My brother is in trouble!
God, why are You so calm?
I want to see Your hurried hand,
I only see Your palm.
While I am in a flurry,
God, You retain Your pace;
my countenance be panic,
but You have set Your face."

My brother is in trouble.
Must we be troubled, though?
The answer to His situation,
in our hearts, we know.
Oh help us stand beside him,
instead of 'pushing' You.
Help us to bind our hearts with his
for faith and hope anew."

"Thank you for living your faith, Larry!"

You, too!

So different for all of us.
So different with each new day...each moment!
Oh, but I am so thankful for the One constant that will NEVER change!

Silently, He's there by me
wherever I may go.
Whether I'm away or home,
it is so good to know
a thousand angels are with me,
making each step true!
My friend, I have some words of hope--
this also is for you!
You, too, can have the Lord above
beside you everyday;
a hedge from danger 'roundabout
from angels sent your way!
Someone closer than a friend
to hold you when you cry,
to comfort you and lift you up,
and help to dry your eye.
This Friend of mine from Nazareth
can turn your life around.
He'll make His love and hope and His
forgiving grace abound!
He'll straighten out your path and lead
you down the Narrow Way;
He'll show to you much better things
than you can see today!
But there is something you must do
before this can be done:
you must die unto your self
and seek the Holy One.
You must surrender unto God
and claim the Lord, His Son,
and seek ye first His holy will,
and all this will be done!

Submit. Can you handle that? It isn't easy for some. It is essential for His!

I want my way.
I may not say it, but I feel it. Do you?
Oh, you are so good!
Pray for me, then.
In fact, pray this way for me:

"Overtake my humanness
with that which pleases God!
Upon the thoughts and deeds of self,
oh let me freely trod!
I have been trained for battle, yea,
and fitted for the same--
I am a soldier of the Lord—
All victory to claim!

The battleground, it is my mind,
and I must fit it so!
To let HIM be the Guardian,
there purity to know!
Nothing is impossible,
thus, unto Him, I turn!
Oh, the very mind of Christ,
but constant I to learn!

Thank you. I needed that.

Life is Seasonal

Colors in descent.
Not colors indecent!
A feast for the eyes. But is autumn only a vision?
Autumn is life! OK. Fodder for those who say that
"Life is seasonal."
I must agree. Life is seasonal.
Oh, but CONSTANT are the seasons!

Find again crescendo in decline...
life, so slowly exiting the vine.
To indicate that life has come to end?
No! The constant cycle to defend!
Therefore to savor colors, every one,
until the autumn season, it is done,
remembering another time will be
with every tomorrow that we see!

Fear not the changing of the seasons. Only be thankful that you can behold it. Thankful to God--Creator of every season of life!

Blessings on you!

I did it again!
Me, me, me!
When will I learn?
So much life out there...why must I focus so much on ME?!

"O deliver me from craving 'Me'
of all of life's buffet.
I have indulged in way too much
along the Narrow Way.
Seeking for to satisfy
desires--all mine each!
To crave alone the things of You,
o let my heart beseech!

Deliver me from craving "them"
and all they may possess.
I cannot covet others' things
expecting You to bless!
I know that You will give to me
all that You have for me;
o blind me if you must, oh God,
Your bounty only see!

Deliver me from craving
anything You will not give.
I know it is Your pleasure to
provide for me to live;
and I know all else be in
Your timing, if at all.
Deliver me from what shan't be
as I attend Your call.

The alarm goes off.
You yawn...stretch...wake up as best you can.
What to wear...
What to wear?
Does your wardrobe include Jesus?
Does your wardrobe include praise?
According to His Word, I am to "put on the garment of praise..."
It is easy to do as I think of all He does for me and all He has planned for me!

"Holy, Holy, Holy..."
in preparation of
a day that's orchestrated by
the awesome King of Love!
He has mine every movement planned
mine every word ordained;
I explain my willingness,
He does the unexplained!

"Holy, Holy, Holy..."
the first words out of me
regardless of the way I feel
or what I hear or see!
Whatever is my morning, I know
He's the greatest part?
No, but He is everything--
no other way to start!

"Holy, Holy, Holy..." all
my escort and my theme!
He takes me through each task, each meeting,
and through every scheme.
And after is the labor, rest
for body, spirit, soul...
all in Jesus, King of Love
and Savior of my soul!

Remember to include Him in every part of your day! He is willing. Are you?

Does that title intimidate you? Anger you? Invite you?
Is it a "thing?" Is it a way to do your hair? (I hope not!!)
It is a way of life. It is attainable! If it is your desire, the One Who is Holiness wants to be with you every step of the Way!

Holiness--again attaining
with the altar in approach;
Jesus Christ, the all-sustaining,
the Object and the constant Coach.

Holiness--the same obtaining
in a world that is not?
Though the whole world be restraining,
Christ to see, the same, I've got!

Holiness--a way of living,
and the same not out of reach!
Power for the same, God giving,
for the ways that They beseech!

Look in front of you: there He is--Jesus!
He is motioning you, encouraging you, cheering for you as you try to live that life that He has called you to!! Are you going to focus upon Him cheering you on, or use 'grace' as an excuse to get away with the minutest of temptations?
Press on!!

Hope in all

The Word of God says that if we have hope only in this life, we are the most miserable of all people! What about you? What do you hope for? Is it only something that you may 'possess?' What about when you are in a place where possessions are not allowed. Sure, I myself have 'things' that I enjoy. But those things I take pleasure in cannot go with me everywhere I go. I do possess something that can: a relationship with Jesus Christ! I would not trade that for ANYTHING!!

Hope in all of life and glory--
Jesus Christ, the Man.
For to understand my self
according to His plan.
My need and my desire,
my feeling and my fear,
my hope and expectation are
as Jesus, He is here!

Hope in all of life and glory,
Jesus Christ, my Friend.
All of God and all of man--
all Heaven to descend!
Transcending every sacred class,
relating unto each;
utmost: closer than a brother,
ne'er such tie to breach!

Hope in all of life and glory,
Jesus Christ, my Lord.
Relationship with God the Father
beautifully restored!
The wonder of adoption,
"Abba Father!" be my cry;
in the purpose of His life:
to suffer and to die.

Hope in all of life and glory,
Jesus Christ, my God.
Mortal and immortal,
time eternal to applaud!
Celestial host in adoration,
nature in accord!
Ye all creation harmonize
to Savior, Friend and Lord!!

What is He to you?

A Little Farther

Just a little farther now
and I will be with Him.
No longer having things in vision
making sight so dim;
no longer seeing things that will
cause joy to disappear;
and only at His Majesty
will I have any fear!

A few more miles down the road
and I'll be at that shore.
No turning back unto this land
or things that were before.
No worries of this dying life,
no yearning for that youth,
for everything He promised us
will be there, of a truth!

Just beyond that cloud up there
and I'll be at that Gate.
Then all that's promised in His Word
will finally culminate!
Rejoicing with Him evermore,
no more to suffer strife,
reaping then from that decision
made in earthly life!

Come on. You can make it. It will all be worth it when we see His face!

Blessed is He

Where are yours? Are you sure?
There has been so very much in the past week to shake foundations. Has yours been affected?
Please continue to join me in prayer for those whose roots may appear to have disappeared.
Foundations, however, remain firm and stable.

Blessed be the very one
whose roots are in the Lord.
He doesn't have to wait for rain
for life to be restored.
For when the blasts of storm arise,
as he's on solid ground,
firmly planted, he'll remain
stable, strong and sound.

So blessed is the one whose hope
and trust are in the Lord!
For when the time of drought has come
his days are e'er restored!
He will not have anxiety,
his fruit will never cease,
and faith and hope and peace sublime,
will, in him, e'er increase!

So blessed is that man whose life
is planted very firm!
He does not fear the stormy blast
or gnawing of the worm!
Fruitful will he ever be,
while others 'round him fail;
and every word 'tween him and God
will, much more life, avail!

(based on Jer. 17:7,8)

Mine Enemy?

Opposition. It is not always visible.
Sometimes, it is. There is coming a day, however, when the adversary will be done away with and Peace will prevail!
In the days that are, it seems like enemies are made easier: a cross word...a misplaced deed...etc. Sometimes, all it takes is a glance!
No matter how many are against you, ONE is always FOR you! His Name is JESUS! And He is more than you need against the foes of the day!

So many are against me,
Mine enemies amass!
When I remind them You will come
They ridicule….they sass!
But You remain my Promise,
My Fortress and my Shield!
Therefore, unto their accusations,
Praises will I yield!

My Glory and my Lifter,
Unto You I cry out!
You answer me from Heaven,
I never am without!
I even have enough to give
The ones who yet oppose…
Will he remain mine opposition?
Heaven only knows.

So many are against me,
But I need only One!
He has for me the answers,
I never am undone!
Regardless of the number,
I will not be afraid!
Each moment to establish;
In You, God, I am made!

Weather or Not

Blessings on you!
I have spoken to people today in four different climates.
From raging fires to someone iced in.
There is one constant in every place I heard from: all are giving God glory that they are alive and safe.
Where are you? Is there a song in your heart? Are you grateful to just be alive?
I know I am!

No matter whether the weather,
somewhere is sunny always!
In the embrace of my Father,
there's always plenty to praise!
A shelter like not any other,
away from the storms that arise.
How many have found that the weather
is not always due to the skies?

No matter whether the weather,
there is an excellent song!
The words and the music are certain,
in spite of anything wrong!
So wonderful is to recite it,
coming from fathoms so deep;
scaling the heights beyond measure
the scope of that song for to keep!

No matter whether the weather,
no matter time of the day,
Him Who is causing the singing,
eternity, it is His way!
Each time the song is recited
a piece of eternity known!
Elements, they are no matter,
such joy in that singing is sown!!

Rejoice with me, won't you? I am praying for you.

More in Him!

O Father, I'm so weary that
I cannot even feel.
Unto that strength and healing,
far beyond me, I appeal!
You possess what I do not,
but mine does it become;
and as I'm in Your Presence,
perfect healing is my sum!

O Father, I'm so grateful I
don't have to understand.
All I must do is yield to You,
and give You all command.
You can do far greater as
I let go of it all;
take it, Father, as I take You
and Your holy call.

O Father, I'm victorious
in You and You alone!
Naught of me to interfere,
Your wholeness to be known!
So blessed and highly favored I
to be receiver of
that which belongs to You alone,
given with perfect love!

No matter what, my Father has the answer. Is there something in your life that you need help with? Turn it over to Him. He can do more with it than you can, and healing will result!

Here comes Jesus, riding on
the envelope above,
In the coming of the Light
resplendent with His love!
That exclusive of Him be
abundant in His wing!
Here comes Jesus---all of life
in harmony to ring!

Here comes Jesus, riding on
the newest of the day!
rolling up the twilight, until
work has gone its way!
Carpeting the land with brilliant
colors all about!
Here comes Jesus---all of life,
in harmony to shout!!

Here comes Jesus, riding on
each facet of the day!
Oh, and even 'yond the veil,
He rides without delay!
Nothing for to hinder His
advance---o tune the heart!
Be ready for the trumpet blast:
in harmony depart!

Are you ready? Can you see Him? Desire to see Him! He will not disappoint you!

Greater Realms

The term 'predestination' has caused quite a fuss in the recent past. No matter how you feel about it, God knows exactly where you will be when He finally calls! I want to be serving Him and doing His work! That life which awaits beyond will be filled with all the blessings that we've already sampled, plus those which are too wonderful for us to imagine...all without the pains and setbacks that this life knows!
Where will you spend eternity?

In realms I cannot visualize
so far beyond the sky,
events we cannot realize
concerning you and I
are happening without an end
beneath a watchful eye
until a Trumpet sounds "ASCEND!"
and upward we shall fly!

And that so very constant in
that realm so high above,
is due alone a single motive:
undivided love!
Our each and every thought and deed
before we even know
is in revelation until
Three alone to show!

"In realms I cannot fathom, be
my strength and shield, I pray!
Wholly would I yield to You,
holy for to stay!
O, mine all-in-all I place
in Your complete control.
I love You more than anything,
oh Savior of my soul!"

Oh...the Father!

Blessings on you!
What would you do if someone walked up to you and said "I know everything that you have ever done wrong!" Or how about "Hey, remember what you said to that person yesterday when no one heard?"
There is someone who can say that! In fact, there are two persons who can. One is your enemy, and he uses that tactic all the time to accuse and condemn you. The other is the Holy Spirit. He uses it to move you to repentance. Your enemy will keep dragging it up. The Holy Spirit, however, will only remind you until you do something about it. He does it in love. How will you respond?

Oh, the Father's mercy,
oh, the grace of the same.
One without the other--
impossible to claim!
Say, but who could fathom
the wonder of it all?
Love like not another
to anyone at all!

Oh, how vast the Father,
how personal the same.
He made all that is made,
He knows my very name!
He speaks to the heavens,
He speaks unto my soul...
He makes whole worlds function,
He makes my person whole!

Oh, how blest all people
this God of love to know.
Oh, this God, so willing,
His perfect love, to show!
Matchless, His assurance:
I'm saved, though I was lost!
Matchless, His provision--
He paid the dearest cost!

Yes, He gave His Son for all of this!
He gave His Son for all of us!
What will you do with His Gift?

I Can!

Blessings on you.
Do you ever get caught up desiring something someone else has? Not necessarily their possessions, but perhaps an ability, a talent?
In recent years, I have said "Lord, if I only had the ability to drive again, I could___"
And He reminds me that where that person over there may be able to do something I cannot, I may have the blessing of something that he is praying for.
I come in contact with a lot of people. If there is one thing I've learned, we ALL have limitations. Some are just more visible than others'.

I cannot do like the other,
but I can do like not another.
This life puts limits on this man.
Beyond this life, though, yes I can!
So, far beyond this life I live.
Each day, I know the term 'outgive.'
That's the provision that I know,
and it's an aim for me to sow!
If I but took what life bestowed,
mere poverty would be my road!
Beyond this I choose to stay,
stabled on the Narrow Way!

Watching Assurance

A hawk gliding on the currents, effortlessly...
so regal in flight...can anything hinder?
As noble and distinguished as he is, there remains
that little, tiny bird that is matching his glide... nipping at his tail...trying to distract, annoy and interfere with His agenda.
Here we are: children of the Most High God--royalty. We have the best of everything. And we, too, have HIS agenda. And, yes, on each and every step of the way be the pests of this life trying to distract, deter, yea, even prevent us from His agenda. What to do?
Fix your vision fast upon the Cross and plant your feet firmly upon the Narrow Way, for He has for each of us an established end!

"God is great!"
Let such be the heartcry of matter what!
Can it be?
Yes, it is possible!

When the pain, it is unbearable,
I am blessed.
When functions are not as they are,
I am blessed.
When peace is not a feeling,
I am blessed.
When I cannot see or hear
I am blessed.

My Father, You are greater than mere 'sense.'
You are now, You are my recompense.
You are my eternity ahead.
I choose every way of You, instead!
You are above all things that may afflict.
There is no way of You to contradict.
My Peace, my Healing, God, my Everything,
my Blessing--unto You I ever cling!

He is waiting to be everything to you!
Can you handle that?

Blessings on you!
Have you received any blessings today? Are you sure?
When I pray, I have gradually gone from giving God my shopping list, to worshipping Him and asking Him what He wants of me today. No, it has not been easy. Yes, it has taken me years to learn. I realize, however, that if I am doing His desires and His work, "...all else shall be added unto me."

Before the mighty throne
of Who calls me His own.
My approach is known,
and I desire be shown.
My heart is full of praise
knowing of His ways,
and greater to discern,
yes, more of Him to learn!

My Savior and my Lord--
my time will He reward.
My time? I've none at all
as I obey His call.
My longings, oh so deep,
that, hidden, I may keep,
somehow that come about
as long as I'm devout.

How perfect is His will!
His attributes instill...
His riches and His ways...
my life become a praise!
No other way to live,
save all my life to give
to Him Who gives His all
to them that heed The Call!

Each of us have wants and needs. Are yours being met? Ask God to align them with His will and dedicate yourself to Him. He will bless you in ways that you cannot even fathom!!
